We recently reported how mixtures of structurally related polyoxovanadates spontaneously form by redox self-equilibration and assemble into co-crystals. The mixed-valent species show unprecedented redox activity and allow the uptake and release of up to 16 electrons in a potential range of ca. 3. V. The materials could be promising active compounds for nonaqueous redox flow batteries.
The work is reported in Angewandte Chemie and has been highlighted on the journal cover.
Special congrats to Moritz, Boris, Stefan and Zhengfan!
