A central research focus in our group is the development of new synthetic routes
to functionalized vanadium oxide clusters. Here, we combine concepts of supramolecular
coordination chemistry and inorganic chemistry to develop and optimize metal-functionalized
clusters with improved visible light absorption. These compounds are employed in
VIS-light driven selective photooxidations such as alcohol oxidations, epoxidations
or pollutant degradation.
Using the unique dynamic solution chemistry of vanadates, we investigate the complex
reactivity and dynamic reorganization of the clusters under catalytic conditions
so as to understand how to improve their reactivity and stability.
